Compliance
The boundary is written.
These are operating rules for this desk. They are not legal advice, and they are not a claim of licensure.
No license is held.
SP Hunt is not a private investigator. No California private investigator license number is listed because none is held. Work that is investigation is not accepted here. It is routed to a licensed California private investigator retained by the client or by counsel.
Lawful sources only
Published records and materials handed over under the scope.
No tracking of individuals
No surveillance, location, or dossier work.
Data minimization
Collect only what the written scope names.
Written scope
Every engagement starts as a document, not a handshake.
NDA where relevant
Confidentiality and attorney-directed language when the matter needs them.
Lawful sources.
In bounds: public filings, published statistics, company pages that are public, open datasets, and materials a client or counsel provides under the scope. Out of bounds: anything that requires a pretext, a stolen credential, or access the holder did not authorize.
The desk researches organizations, markets, and published records. It does not build files on private individuals.
Declined on arrival.
- Surveillance, stakeouts, or monitoring a person’s movements.
- Locating a person, including a spouse, partner, employee, or relative.
- Hacking, credential use, account access without authorization, or pretexting.
- Doxxing, or compiling a dossier on a private individual.
- Any other act that is investigation rather than public-source research.
An NDA does not bring declined work into bounds. Attorney direction does not turn this desk into a licensee. The written scope is where the refusal is recorded.
